Sunday, June 11, 2006 the wedding:a new chapter
Over the weekends, its was comparable to having another bout of chalet fever, but this time its not all fun and games. Its a wedding chalet. My mum's youngest brother, aka my uncle was getting married, and i of course, was obliged to lend in a helping hand. My uncle was rather secretive and i didn't manage to see the bride until the wedding day itself.
Went to his new house at Redhill on Friday night and watched the world cup games with my cousins. The next day went over to the bride's house to help wash dishes and serve the guests. Nothing really eventful happened.
Sunday was the busy day. Had to get ready earlier and form the wedding 'contingent' comprising of my mum's extended family to bring the gifts to the bride's side. Witnessed the exchanging of vows through the traditional muslim ceremony. This is quite a while since i was involved in a wedding, and i was overwhelmed. Then its back down to clear the dishes and serve the guests, right till the invitation period was over.
So there goes the last unmarried elder in my family, and that techinically leaves me next in line, me being the eldest cousin. Wait another 10 years can?
