This, i have to blog. Certainly a night to remember. Well the day wasn't that bad either, Shirley sat behind me during GP lecuture, wohoo. Ended rather early cause we pushed foward maths to our lunch break. Had a class lunch at banquet and a banquet we had. Rushed home to change and shower before meeting them again.
First went to Creative HQ with Amin, Shid and PS. Shid needs to get her mp3 changed. It was rather fast compared to back then when i accompanied Plankton for the same reason. While waiting for her mp3 to be changed, we lounged and mingled around the display items. Amin charged his mp3 there. Shid transferred some songs to her mp3: both secretly. Me? One of the laptops had slipknot songs in them, i played Pulse Of The Maggots at full blast and left the computer, and it played on and on until who knows when.
Met Sandy at Jurong Entertainment and they had a quick dinner. We rushed again to get to Kallang by train. It was already 7.30 when we got there. Took a cab to the stadium and had a brief chatter with the taxi driver.
It was around 7.50 when we reached the stadium. When we got out of the cab near the west entrance, someone was calling my name. I thought, hey, i can't be that famous that people call my name in public(then again, you may never know...). I turned around, stupefied, dumbstruck, just voiceless for that vital moment. I was like, "Eh amin, amin..." while pointing to that name-illusive character.
It was coach Tony. It was utter disbelief as it didn't stuck, cross nor hit my mind that i shall ever see him again(at least for the not-so distant future). It was to say, the least, a very pleasant surprise. The notion of us being late for the match evaporated in a flash. We exchanged quick pleasantries and updated him on our current status. He asked if we had tickets, and we told him we were short of one. He just waved over to one of the marshals and, poof, a ticket appeared.
We had to make a 180 degrees detour as we were at the west entrance and we had to make our way to the east. It was likely that roughly 30 minutes had passed, so we settled quickly near the Danish goal post. Best piece of action was Alam Shah fluffing a sitter with the goalmouth at his mercy, after Indra waltzed in from the right flank.
The Danish upped the ante during the second half and scored two quick goals in succesion, both well taken. Lionel Lewis was rarely threatened during the first half. Singapore lostmuch possession and were pushed back. But they later surged on, splitting through on a few occasions, though it created only half chances. Then came a swift counter attack along the left wing and a through ball left 3 defenders, Indra latched onto the loose ball and with a deft touch without hesitation struck the ball past the onrushing keeper.
It was much needed, but only 2 minutes of injury time was left after that. Singapore played with urgency, rather desperate at a moment when someone in midfield hacked the Danish guy off his bearings and received a yellow card for that.
2-1 was the final score. PS and Sandy to bus home. I took another bus with Amin. Then took train home.
It took some luck, time mismanagement and sheer coincidence all mixed into one to lay out the events of today(the latter part emphasis). Sentimental about Tony's departure, the match one good memory. And i brought PS to her first soccer match with Amin and Sandy.
