[ a morbid fascination that borders on obsession. ]

It still feels surreal even 2 days after it happened. The ringing still lingers in the drums of my ears and the adrenalin rush still flows through at odd intervals. Its hard to believe that slipknot performed live in Singapore ont the night of August the 13th 2005 at Fort Canning Park green. I was there together with Adeel, Izzudin, Nazreen and Viknesh. Since we knew that Slipknot was going to perform here, we were all set and ready to go.
For Din and Nazreen, they only bought the tickets before the show and Adeel and be a few days ago. All of us bought the $60 tics while Viknesh bought the $100 and went with his bandmates. For them it was a last minute decision as they were unsure in the first place. Also at first Adeel thought only 18 years and above could enter but it turn out that there was no age limit.
We were quite late when we were on our way to Fort Canning. All of us finished school late on Tuesday and we met up later than expected. We entered Fort Canning at the goodness-knows-how-many steps at the main entrance while the concert was at the other end. We half jogged half walked to the venue and reached there drenched with sweat, Adeel called it warm-up. It turned out that we were late but the concert haven yet started. There were some songs being played, and we saw the crew setting up the stage and equipment.
There was quite a crowd and a barrier around the stage, supposedly for the $100 people and the $60 people had free standing anywhere around the barrier. We managed to get a good spot somewhere at the right side. The band finally came on about 8.20 and while they were getting ready, the barrier about 5 metres in front of us collapsed, and the people began rushing in. I was hesitant at first cause the security was running around with the torch, but in actual fact they were checking the cables than ran underneath the barriers. The 4 of us quickly sneaked in and just in the for the first song.
The atmosphere was just electrifying and phenomenal. Its really hard to describe with all kinds of people around you doing their own stuffs. The music was deaftening and you can't even hear yourself shout. In total they played around 15+ songs, maybe up to 18. We were really sweating in the midst of all the people and even got caught in two simultaneous moshes at the right and left of us. After the moshes, there was a large gap and we filled in, and subsequently got closer and closer to the stage.
At the end we were like only 15-20 metres from the stage, maybe even less. Everything was happening just in front of our eyes. It was quite a restricted display, but nevertheless, they rocked and delivered a very energetic performance. All of us agreed it was well spent, and joked to Viknesh that we saved $40. Those who missed, its really a pity cause if even if aren't a fan, it was a rare occasion to see a foreign rock act live and in person and for the experience of a lifetime. They ended of quite abruptly, and no encore. But Corey kowtowed to the audience before going off after the rest left.
This is just a brief account. If you want details, maybe some other time.
